How to apply in Waupaca County
The purpose of the FoodShare (FS) Program is to end hunger and improve nutrition and health. It helps low-income households buy the food they need for a nutritionally adequate diet.
Eligibility
Generally, individuals or families who are eligible for FoodShare are employed but do not make enough money to completely support their families, or are disabled and cannot work, or have lost their jobs, or are living on small, fixed incomes. This may include:
- Low-income workers
- W-2 Participants
- Elderly and disabled persons
- Individuals with high housing and utility costs, or
- Individuals who pass both the gross income and asset test for eligibility.
To be eligible to receive FS benefits you must:
- File an application
- Interview with a FoodShare (food stamp) worker
- Meet basic eligibility rules
- Register for work (with some exceptions)
- Meet asset limits
- Meet income limits
