The County Surveyor performs various duties on behalf of the general public, county government offices, as well as other Professional Land Surveyors.

Primary Duties and Requirements
  • The County Surveyor has been an appointed position since October 30, 1978 based on Waupaca County Resolution #17
  • County Surveyor must be a Professional Land Surveyor, licensed by the State of Wisconsin
  • Executes land surveys on behalf of other county departments
  • Maintains and replaces original Public Land Survey System (PLSS) monuments
  • Files/maintains documentation (tie sheet example) pertaining to the physical location of PLSS monuments
  • Retains records of private surveys completed by other Professional Land Surveyors within the county
  • Acts as an interal resource regarding parcel mapping / land surveying questions
  • Acts as a resource for the general public to ask questions related to land surveying issues
