Thank you for visiting the the Waupaca County Hazardous Materials Team (HazMat) website. We hope you find this website informative.

The Waupaca County HazMat Team is a volunteer agency made up of personnel from the fire service as well as industry. The HazMat Team was established in 1992. Upon request of a fire chief, the HazMat Team will respond to the scene of a hazardous materials incident and assist the local fire department in mitigating the incident.

All members of the Waupaca County HazMat Team must be specially trained to operate at hazmat incidents and are certified at the hazardous material Technician (or Operations) level. At a hazardous materials incident, team members operate as a Branch of the local fire department under a unified incident command structure.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Waupaca County HazMat Team is to provide the county with specially trained personnel to respond to nuclear, biological, and chemical releases upon request. The rescue of victims, hazard mitigation, technical guidance, and advanced medical support are the primary functions of the team
